The Arts Council of Scotland County is dedicated to preserving and enriching the performing and visual arts culture of Scotland County for children and adults of all ages through education, performances, research, workshops, professional development and writing. As a catalyst for community and economic development in our county, The Arts Council of Scotland County stimulates sustainable tourism, grows local businesses, creates and maintains jobs, and promotes Scotland County as a tourist retirement destination by advancing artistic excellence and cultural activities.
Participated in the Scotland County Suds and Swine in Laurinburg BBQ Competition and Festival by providing arts/crafts vendors and children’s art activities.
Celebrated Black History Month by providing storytellers for all elementary schools for their black history programs and sponsored a Gospel Concert at SACS.
Hosted an Indigenous Heritage Celebration for Native American Heritage Month
Participated in Christmas On Main hosting vendors and providing seasonal entertainment.
Sponsored two minority bands for Laurinburg After Five events and held a community Motown Concert in McDuffie Square.
Supported and showcased two local theater groups: Encore! Theater(Adult) and Big Cheese Theater(Children)with several plays performed at SACS by each group.
Supported and showcased young musicians in conjunction with Chris Fore and Fore Music with a 2-day recitel/performance by the students.
Offered local artists the opportunity to display their work as our SACS “Artists of the Month.
Provided two summer camps for children: Art Camp and Theater Camp
